Hard to tell, nowadays Caiman yakare is considered a seperate species, so for Caiman crocodillus are only four subspecies left of which two are not generally accepted.
The northern populations are considered Caiman crocodilus fuscus.

Mine is S-American, so definately not that one.

The other three subspecies are named after their geographical origin :

Caiman crocodilus apaporiensis from rio Apaporis;
Caiman crocodilus matogrossiensis from Mato Grosso region (subspecies not generally accepted);
Caiman crocodilus paraguayensis from Paraguay (subspecies not generally accepted).

So without knowing the collection point, I just stick to genus and epitheton "Caiman crocodillus"
